What started as a small fire Monday afternoon quickly spread to engulf multipole acres including a file of more than a hundred railroad ties. Columbus Fire Fighters Kale Kitterman and Cody Burton work to contain the large fire as part of a six-man, three apparatus crew that responded to the fire.

The four-week camp for junior golfers concluded Thursday with five players taking the opportunity to learn from Columbus Unified High School Sophomore, state qualifier, Cali Carpino. The free camp was offered four Thursdays in July and August by Cali and Easton Long, senior, CUHS state qualifier, at the Brush Creek Golf Course. Those attending the final session were Rae Smith, Quynn Baylor, Brynn Baylor, Hollis Haverkamp, and Jack Koons.
