A near total lunar eclipse was visible to Cherokee County residents Thursday, August 27. This photo was taken near the eclipse’ peak at 11:12 p.m. Central Time from the sidewalk along 105 South Pennsylvania Avenue. For nearly three and a half hours the earth cast its shadow across the lunar surface.

First seven months busy at museum
The Columbus 2026 Titan Cross Country Team was introduced during Meet the Titan Night at the CUHS Gymnasium, August 21. Freshmen, Cora Rider and freshman, Tanner Scott, join the team for their rookie campaign. Myah Tash, sophomore; junior, Cooper Grundy; senior Cara Altis, and senior, Levi Simpson will hit the course, Thursday, at Labette County. (Not pictured Drake Laurance, senior.)Races have been changed to two miles for high school and one mile for jr. high beginning at 10 a.m. due to heat forecasts.
